Moneygram Int shares have gained 4% since the company announced an alliance in partnership with Digital Wallet Corporation, a fintech company as well as Smiles Mobile Remittance (Smiles) owner.
Smiles is an online money transfer service as well as a digital wallet in Japan.
In the wake of the agreement, users in Japan can now access the Smiles mobile application that already uses MoneyGram’s worldwide payment rails as well as close-to-real-time capabilities for sending money to people from more than 200 countries around the world.
The news today follows last week’s announcement by MoneyGram that it has made a minority investment in Coinme, a cryptocurrency-based money exchange company in the U.S.
Moneygram a leading cross boarder payment giant has been collaborating with other fintech giants to explore the options to minimize and simply the cross board transmission of money.
In past, Moneygram has partnered with popular crypto payment service Ripple Labs, to utilize its native currency XRP for the settlement of payments across the boarders.
